New poster: this one’s for the Please Mind Your Head II fundraiser gig for Headway Cardiff in Clwb Ifor Bach. Go along, there are some ace bands playing and it’s for a very good cause.

I wanted to use photography for this poster; I had a vague idea of making a head out of ice so I filled one of those paint-your-own masks with water and put it in the freezer. But the finished item was really indistinct; the nose and lips didn’t really stand out at all. So I dolloped some paint onto the eyes and lips then submerged the face in water, which resulted in the swirly, dissolving mess above. I’m really happy with it, especially the weird lighting; looks like something from the end of Terminator 2.
